serial number

hello all, newb here. I have a 2000 speedster 240 efi, the engine was rebuilt, not sure if the engine was swapped with a rebuilt one or the engine that was in it orginally was rebuilt. I think the engine was swapped for a rebuillt engine. There is a tag on it from quicksilver remanufacturing stating serial number, build date, and model. i looked in the merc manual that came with the boat as to where to find the serial number and its not where it should be for a 2000. Any idea where i would find out the serial number? The rebuild date was 29/08/11, the serial number from quicksilver is qsgg023390s0. thanks in advance

That sounds like a factory rebuild, so the original S/N is gone. Please post a picture of the engine, and I can tell you is it's a Gen 1 or 2.

That's a Factory/OEM replacement engine. It's a Gen1 style. Use any S/N 0E384500 THRU 0E406399, and you will get the parts you need.
