G geoffrey New Member Jul 6, 2012 #2 Turn the crankshaft so the key faces up, a dab of grease to hold it in place, or clean it thoroughly and put a spot of super glue on it.

The key is for alignment only, the correct torque on the nut is what keeps the flywheel from spinning on the tapered shaft snout. These parts are machined then hand lapped by the machinist to be a perfect fit. Bills86e
