hi i have a seadoo gsi 720 jetski had blown 5 amp fuse in rear box on replacing fuse got a cloud of smoke from vts box and fuse blew
i disconected box and get no beeps or anything when connecting lanyard
however if i use another lanyard i get one long beep (think this tells me lanyard is not right one
so i tried my lanyard on another ski and got nothing (no long beep as from lanyard not programed)
am i correct in presuming lanyard is duff ( is there any way to check lanyard)
cheers fred

There is a good chance you also ruined the MPEM with that shorted out VTS box. Been known to happen.

Completely unplug all the connectors to the trim box and see if your ski starts.

As noted above, a defective VTS module can smoke an MPEM. Unplug the module as well as the motor.

It does sound like you have a dead lanyard based on yours description.

i took lanyard apart and resoldered chip to plug (cant use it to ride ) but i now get 2 beeps and engine cranks so i defo need new lanyard
i only unpluged 2pin socket will unplug other one too just to be safe
