Seadoo Hx?

I love mine. For some it can be a chore to ride. It's like an 85hp toothpick. Rides like a crotch rocket. Most guys hate it. It takes good balance to ride it a and it's not a 2up ski.

They are pretty awesome. Deff a learning curve. But WAY more fun and challenging then any other seadoo. Only takes a ride or two to get the hang of it. I'm considering selling mine soon in search of a super jet.

Bawawawa if you LIKE a challenge and don't mind getting wet, you'll LOVE IT! I recently got one and riding motocross and street jap bikes my whole life, figured it'd be a cakewalk. I literally launched the ski, idled 6 feet to get past the doc, and fell right the EFF off! I fell a few more times but once I got the hang of it, it was such a blast! Definitely not just a normal "sea couch"... It does take some skill. Not only was it my first time riding an hx, but I also had to do so with 1 hand, manipulating the choke with the other to get it to plane off bc of a carb issue, so THAT in itself was a challenge

How much different riding style are they compared to a 97xp.
The look similar

Waaaayyyy different. The 97xp rides like most other sit downs. The hx is very tippy. Most people fail miserably when trying to board the hx. The hx can be fun but there is no just stopping to enjoy the scenery. If you come to a complete stop and there is chop it can tip easily. We had one and it was ok but if you want a cruiser and go with groups and stop and chat a bit in the middle of the water than I would pass. It cuts and turns on a dime though.

Oh it is different alright. Too bad you do not know someone who owns one. You could just test drive it. I thought I would like it but, I hated it. If you want something different but nimble I would suggest a 96xp or a 97-99 spx. The hx is either love it or hate it machine. I have owned 93xp's, 94xp, 95xp's, 95gtx, 95hx, 96xp's, 96gtx's, 97xp's, 97gsi, 97gtx, 97spx's, 97gsx, 98spx's, 98xpl, 98gsxl, 99gsxrfi, 99spx's out of all those the hx is my least favorite. I like the 800 x4 the best

Now I really want to ride one.
They don't come up for sale often around here

I agree 100%, you really need to water test a ski before buying it, so test it and then decide. What happened with the 96GSX you were going to buy?

It's a fun ski, but it's not one I'd suggest buying without a test ride. You'll be wet a lot and it's not easy to board. It's hella fun though. Compared to my 02XP it felt under powered to me off the line, but scary fast top end. Scary, but in reality slower than a 951 XP. The XP was based on the HX. Also I don't think the hx has any gauges.

No gauges but you can install a multigauge it the 95hx. The mpem is the exact same as the 95xp 95gtx. So if you take the gauge from the 95, a fuel baffle, and oil sending unit you can use the multi gauge. You will have to send power to it but it is not that bad of a job. The hood has blanks in the gauge pods. I am shocked they molded the hood to include the gauges but never installed the gauges instead they put blanks there.

Im pretty sure the 97 came with a fuel gauge, but not 95 and 96.

I had an hx last summer and loved it. You've got to have it tuned up perfect though. Hard starting or any bogging at all are a giant pain when youre trying to drag your butt out of the water in the middle of the lake. Once I had mine tuned up it was a blast. Never felt more uncomfortable on a ski though lol.

I have a complete OEM accessory kit to add gauges to the HX available. It wouldnt be tough to DIY though. You will need a GSX fuel pickup.

As others have said...you better be a small guy or hella athletic and have good balance. I...have none of those. Never been able to do a pull up ever in my life...lol

Im about to build the ultimate HX...lol well 720 hx. The 787 and 951 conversions are way ultimate-er. Starting with a nice 96 hull that already has UMI, manual trim, and a JT seat..its getting parts swapped over from a 95 I got last year thats got a factory pipe, 46mm carbs, buckshot head...etc. Should be a pretty sweet machine when its done!

Wait..why am I building a ski I cant ride?? LOL

To me a dirtbike is waaay easier to ride. The main problem is just boarding it. After that it is easy unless you come to a stop or need to idle lets say 300 yards past a no wake zone. On a dirt bike you throw your leg over and you are ready to go. Not so much with the hx but I am a fat dude 200lbs here and only 5'10''

if you are a guy that can do a bunch of pull ups...youll be fine. You side board...turn the opposite of the side you are boarding from, gun it and pull yourself up.
