Anybody know if a 95 seadoo xp crank will work in a 97 xp? I'm looking at 1 for sale but the listing says it will only work on 95 xp ! I don't understand , they both have 787 engine, is there a difference?
Thanks in advance! !

As long as they are both 800 engines... it will work. BUT... the majority of the 95 XP's had the 720 engine.

Ask the guy to send you a pic of the ski he's parting out. If it's all yellow, it's an 800. If it has a white upper deck, it's a 720.

I disagree with doc. The 787 crank in a 1995 XP is different from a 787 crank in a 1996 or newer ski. I can't remember exactly what the difference is. I'm thinking it had something to do with the taper on the magneto end or possibly the threads on the PTO but not sure. I do know they're not interchangeble.

OK... I didn't know. I guess I'll go dig into it. I guess since the 800 engines were so few, I haven't run into it yet.

***EDIT****

It looks as if there was a change in the counterbalance, and PTO. SO... the 95 crank will work... but you would need those to parts also. (probably not worth it)

Dennis: Thanks for bringing that to light.
