Replacing 2005 seadoo islandia optimax 250 engine

Hey all! I have a 2005 seadoo utopia. I need to replace the engine. Does anyone know If a similar engine will work or does it have to be the exact ? I'm currently looking at a fully dressed powerhead of a 2005 optimax 250 xs. I have also found a few outboard 250 optimax that I remove the casing and I imagine I can use. Also anyone have any manuals/ ideas on what I need to do to remove? I have background I'm automotive mechanical knowledge but not marine but I assume there are some similaritys. Any info would be useful. Thanks in advance!

Someone smarter than me can provide better details, but the outboard engine is the same - except for the engine drive shaft. Wont, fit, not interchangeable engines on the sport-jet for this reason.
