Cool, Yep Magyver was saying that too but I just wanted to get as much info, prediction on what it would change to the feel of the ski:)

Little update,

Got all my spare parts since Monday:) Really happy.
List include
Second hand 'newish' Skat-Trak 16-21 "Swirl" impeller
Second hand 'no visible damage' WORX intake grate
New fuel float
New Carby rebuilt kit 'from the seadoo mech'
New wear ring 'from the seadoo mech'
Tell tail pee fitting
Hour meter

I've installed the hour meter and Tell tail pee fitting myself and the rest is going to the shop this coming Monday.

Then all i need it a proper seadoo cover, as my motocycle shit tarp if falling apart and some hydro matt when my Gym matt falls appart, LOL.

Got the ski back from the shop. The fuel indicator now works, it wasn't the float but the whole thing. New prop installed and everything has been greased etc etc. Will test it tomorrow with MacGyver and will try and take some pics.
C ya.

Ok SO took it out and it ran great for about 10mins, it was much faster than before but then suddenly died. Started it again and it felt like it wanted to stall when under acceleration. From that point it would run ok then a few mins later run like shit, then MacGyver would take it for a run and it would run great, 5mins later i'd take it and straight from starting it would run like shit. Like running on one cyl or something. And after a few times like this it would only run like shit. We swap the plugs with new ones but nothing changed.

We also noticed since the first run that the temp light was on but i was able to leave my hand on the head without getting burnt. Could the sensor be faulty causing the ecu or computer if its got one to make it run like shit? We took the plug off the sensor but that didn't change much.

:( any ideas?? Would most probably send it back to the shop on Monday... **** and the water was real flat and i was a great day to play with the ski!!

Anyway today ive also replaced the water cooling hoses as by the looks of it, it still had the original hoses that had become soft and bulged...

Tell tale pee works great:)

Ohhh i also need a primer pump. Are these expensive new? or would Minnetonka4me have a good one second hand? Can you pm me a price and a shipping cost estimate when you have time. 6108 WA perth.
Thx

Shame about the way it ran, i really think its a fuel problem
The short ride i had it was great fun- that was my first time on an XP, it flat spins like a champ, nice bit of power for a stock motor
I think i might have to add an XP to the fleet

Edit: While looking for an XP i found you a factory pipe and new head, that would make it wild!!

Hi Guy,

A couple of things come to mind, you may be overheating, these motors run pretty cool, I think the light will come on at 130 degrees F. You might have sand in the head, try disconnecting the hoses and the temp. sensor, using a pressure washer to spray water through the head. Or try compressed air. An old mechanics trick is to use liquid draino and then flush.

I had a similar problem, felt like it was running on one cylinder, thought sure it was the fuel system, turned out the be the rectifier. It's in the front E-Box pull the red wire and see the the problem goes away, one warning, be sure the battery is fully charged as the battery won't charge while the rectifier is disconnected.

I've always wondered why an aftermarket pipe is called a factory pipe, you would think the pipe that came on it from the factory would be called the factory pipe. Maybe someone could explain??? It's kinda like why do we drive on a parkway and park in a driveway?

hey Lou,

Well i had my hand on the engine and exhaust and it didn't feel hot when it happened. MacGyvers HX was over heating on the day and you could cook an egg on that thing.

Could you specify what red wire i must pull?

Open the front E-Box, the rectifier is about 2" square aluminum thing, it looks like a flux capacitor, filled with epoxy there are 4 wires 3 yellow and one red, disconnect the red wire.

Hey guys,

Need your thoughts and advise again:) Theres this guys wreaking a 96 xp, same hull as mine. I was wandering of what you guys think of that front compartment hood? Its made out of carbon fiber. It only has two dial spots but since my VTS doesn't work and i'm not planning to fix it, i'm thinking of just not putting it and stick with the fuel and rev gages. Thats the aesthetic visual side of things.

Now he also has those two water fines, not the ones on the side of the ski but the ones at the rear. Mine just sit flush with the hull but his extend out a bit at the back of the hull, in a triangular shape with the 'high' side of the triangle towards the pump. He said its to prevent jumping movement when taking off...
Is this a worth while upgrade? What would it do, cause? any advantages or disadvantages?

Also from that pic these a supposed to be sports steering. Would that be worth while upgrade too? What would it do, cause? any advantages or disadvantages?
Thx

You SOB :)

#1 that hood is kick ass and is worth $$$$
#2 the steering is called UMI. Mattydipps(?) has/made thread.
#3 the things on the side or Sponsons and give ski different handling if they are adjusted up and down.

When your done stripping parts send me the black rub rail and air scoops.

Thanks

They are not on the side of the ski but on the back of the ski.

Sry i'm getting the air scoops. Are you serious about the black rub rails?
Thx

Nah.
Unless you plan on coming to Miami :)

Thats a nice score. Looks like another project.

Looks great, i saw it up close today when i went for parts!
You should buy the sponsons, black bumpers and rails off the same guy, it would look tough as just black and yellow

whats the 'sponsons' ? Is the black bumper and rails hard to remove?

Anyway he wants $100 for it. no way i'm paying that much just for looks. Might just paint them and hope the paint lasts:)

Hey Guy,

Love that hood. Does it have a manufacturer's name on it, I'd like to find one for mine.

I think it says, Advanced something Marine, can't make the second word out.

Lou

the sponsons are the rails/fins on the rear sides, they grab the water when you are turning.
to get the rails and bumpers off you need to drill the pop rivets out, take of the corners first then peel out the strip on the sides to reveal the rest of the rivets
Lou- ATM Advanced Tech Marine, google 'atm carbon fiber seadoo'

Hey guys, It took until the end of summer but i finally had a good day on the water and finally leaving because i was kaput and not the ski:p

Not many pics and only phone pics, will try and get some good shots with a proper camera before winter hits bad...

Next step is to buy some non slip seat cover and foot grip instead of the gym mat.... lol. Btw its still holding and looking much better than the carpet that used to be there:)

If some of you have read my Kawasaki thread, Like i said i had a great day out with the ski. We Ran from about 11am to just over 4pm. Obviously not non stop, but we were 7 friends and we all had a great time. Got a few little boat waves and did jump about 1/2 a foot to a foot. Yes i know its nothing but its great for a first jump. Need to get higher:p

Here are some poser pics, Will get some action ones from the SLR camera soon.
