Hey Guys, Didn't really know where to stuff this thread so figured "How to" might work.

I'm wondering if anybody has the limited candoo. And what the limitations are, I understand you can have up to 4vins right away,

1. Can you add vins (up to 4) after purchase?
2. Can you delete previous vins and add later?

If you have one or know details about it could you let me know. I'm kinda moving into the stricly 4stroke world and one thing I frickin' hate about them (4strokes) is dealer has to clear the codes/read codes. I recently rebuilt a 4tec and had to haul the rig to the dealership twice, once to read codes, then fix the damn sensors, then take back to dealer to clear again. PITA!

Any info is super appreciated!

Thanks!
b

Just for those wondering how the limited version works. You get licensed for 4 vin/hins out of the box. The first time you connect the device to a new boat it reads the vin and asks you if you want to use one of your licenses. After 4 have been used its around $100 per additional license or a discount if you buy volume licensing. I purchased the limited for $400.00 I'll post back a review.

It works fine, I have one of these for my older seadoo jet boat. You can add up to 14 HINs to it before you need the pro version..

Thanks Howie,

I've got one now ... Great Tool!! I hightly recommend it to any DIY'er (especially with 4tecs), I was looking at $30.00 per budds scan at the dealership and I think that's a friendly price. I've heard some people getting charged min 1 hour labour at $80.00 p/hour.

$80 plus a ride up to the dealer pretty much sucks. I would go buy the tool also. It is pretty easy to use. With the older watercraft you have to type in HIN like on mine and if you type it in wrong you just used a license. Mine pretty much just makes keys and reads the hours on my 98 w/717's for now.

Yup tool has already paid for itself, I might upgrade it to the full jam version later on....

Late response, but yes they do work on the 12-13 models as well.

I ordered mine yesterday... I will try to save 100 bucks per month and save for the unlimited... I cant wait to test it on my Seadoo GTX..!!!

When you do get it at PWCMuscle.com we are offering the system for 10% off with coupon code Extreme10

CanDooPro - 4 stroke - engine On or Off..??

Hey guys... I have a question for those who have the CanDooPro diagnostic tool...

Does the engine need to be running at the moment to use the diagnostic tool..?? Or just plug the key WITHOUT fire the engine up..??

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

No doesn't need to be running. With the unit connected to your laptop (USB) and the serial port connected to diagnostic connector. Open the software, it will want to hit the internet and check for updates and maintaince contract status etc. When its done doing that just put you key on the dess post. You'll see the green icon in the bottom left corner (this means vehicle connected). Then at the top click "READ Vehicle" it will then ask you if you want to use one of your licenses on this current HIN. Click "YES" and it will load all the info from you ecu. You can then browse through the various tabs.

Thanks! I will do that now...!!!

I'll post some pics after finish my firts connection attemp... (Y)

Well I received my Candoo today and am going to try it out tonight.

I can't believe for $400 I don't get a carrying case. That's ridiculous!

First attempt with the Candoo got off to a dubious start but once we allowed the Candoo to do it's software update, and figured out the correct sequence, figured out correct connection point at the seadoo...it did it's thing. My first impression is that the documentation is very lacking. Yes I got a "quick start" 2 page "guide" that said minimal information and the "Help" section of the software required an internet connection - which thankfully I had...

So we seen the fault codes being triggered on a 2000 GTX DI (I know I know) and stumbled through somewhat of a diagnostic routine (cleared codes, unplugged (BTW no QUIT on the software), started machine, plugged in again and seen the codes triggered so it appears we have a TPS issue. We did this twice and same code(s) came up.

Would be darn nice if the Shop Manual actually had a code listing and required action for each code.

All in all, at this point a LIMP MODE rating for the Candoo machine. Hopefully I can take it to a WOT with some practice on this machine.
