1st post here. This forum is awesome. Hope I can get some ideas about my problem, and save some time.
98 GTX LIMITED, 947 engine.
I got it with only 33 hours on it. Was not running, but I rebuilt carbs and now it ran. I started it many times ( never got in water yet).
Yesterday I started it 2 times trying to adjust throttle and oil cables. 3rd time it locked up.
Starter engages, but then stops and won't turn over. I turn the flywheel manually counter clockwise and I here a clank sound then won't go further. I turn other way and I can rotate about half turn then , no clank , but too tight to go further.
Any ideas as to what I should check?
Usually I can find my answers by searching, but this one I cannot. Thanks for any input.

First pull the pump and driveshaft and see if it turns over. If not then pull the starter and see if it turns over and finally pull the engine and start tearing it apart until you find what's broken.
