I've read alot of arguements for both sides on random forum pages, and as near as I can tell as long as my injector works I should stick with it.

what do you think?

only arguement is if its working leave it alone ....
If its broken pre mix or fix it???
Just make sure to change the little grey lines b/c they tend to fail..

The choice is yours.
I premix to avoid any isssues and smoke at the dock which I don't mind...

I just got my 1995 Speedster and i was told that the oil pump is there but isn't being used because he pre-mixes his fuel. whats the best oil to gas ratio for my watercraft? i was told to go 50:1 what do you think?

use API-TC oil ONLY(purple). you can get a gallon at walmart for 25+ bucks.
40:1 is 16oz to 5 gal

Edit: fixed ratio

CORRECTION to 40:1 ratio above

Actually, 16oz oil to 5 gallons fuel would be 40:1 ratio. Just wanted to respectfully correct so no one mixes a 20:1 and tries to run it.

Thanks for that infor. I took my Speedster out over the weekend with 50:1 before i saw the replies. boy was it smokey!! will 40:1 minimize the smoke it produces?

40:1 is actually richer (more smoke). Its usually the ideal ratio for most applications (at least with atvs) I would do 40:1 instead of 50:1 if your mixing cause thats a bit lean if you ask me.

Could be that marine engines and using good oil allows you to go as lean as 50:1 I still have injection on mine.

Nope... it will have more smoke.

40:1 is the proper ratio of these engines at full throttle. (3.2oz/gal) That's why the injection system is variable.

BUT... even when you go to premix, you have to feed the rotary valve gears oil... and if the seals are leaking... it will smoke like an old freight train.

I do both. I run half gallon oil in my tank, approx 55:1, just in case of mishap. Has helped me twice. Broken oil line and clogged system (mixed synth and min oil on accident). The engines smoke a little but surprisingly not a lot. With 55:1 i can safely limp home while minimizing engine damage.

Actually smokes just a little at idle and very little discerable smell or smoke presence at cruise.

Hey Guys, I just bought a pair of 96 XP's and a 2 place trailer for a Great price and he said to NOT do away with the 2-cycle injector and to keep them full of the Bombardier Oil only and, he also uses a cheap brand that he premixes with the Gas but, I have always heard to NOT use 2 different types of oil but, he says that the pre-mix is only a back-up in case the injector fails. So, what about this premix with a different oil and why couldn't I do away with the Injector? I used to race Moto~X and the old ones had the injector and I just quit putting oil in the injector tank and premixed only reason being I had and injector fail on me and the only way I found out was the Piston was trying to Seize up on me and I don't trust a little light indicator as they can fail as well so, what about it guys, why can't I do away with the injector? I say I can but, I haven't messed with any 2 strokes since the late 80's.........
