I just picked up a 97 Polaris 900 sl for free and was told it needed a stator and coil. I guess my question is, what other stators and coils will interchange to use on it?

You have to get the upgrade kit if you can find one that includes the coil stator and cdi if I remember correctly.

The Polaris electronics were junk and almost all failed it seems like. So bad that Polaris had an entire upgrade kit.

The original "Domestic" electronics were bad. If you can get your hands on a new set... and you should be able to, since they only stopped making parts a few years ago... that engine will be great.

Ok so As long as I get a new stator I should be good to go? I know I can get one from SBT for right around $250

I would prefer OEM Polaris. It was a known issue, and they were greatly improved. Last I checked... you could get the upgrade kit for less than $250.

Also... the start/stop module could be bad. It's going to be $100.
