Non-Synthetic Oil

I have a 2000 GTX carb edition with about 100 hours on it. I accidentally put Quicksilver PWC oil in, NOT the synthetic. I ran it today, seemed to work fine with the exception that the exhaust is a lot dirtier, which would be expected as the oil is not a full synthetic. My understanding is that it's API rated and will protect my engine just fine, but the deposits in the exhaust could gum the rave valves a bit quicker. I intend on cleaning them after each tank of gas until the oil is gone. My question is: being a 12 year old ski can I still trust the oil pump or should I start premixing? Is there any downside to premixing? And if I start to premix, do I have to do anything special, like clamp off the oil line or can I just keep the oil tank empty? I was thinking instead of putting synthetic oil back into the oil tank that now has the non synthetic, I would just run until the low oil light came on, then just premix the synthetic from this point forward. Any feedback on this?

The two oils are compatible so it's O.K. just to leave it, but you are correct you will probably need to clean your rave valves more often. You won't need to clean then after every tank, twice a year instead on once should be O.K.

The oil injection system is far superior to premixing, you'll use less oil, less smoke, spark plugs will last longer but like anything else the key is maintenance. You should change the oil filter annually and change the oil injection every other year, both are easy jobs.

If you do decide to premix you can get rid of the oil tank because your engine has reed valves, no rotary valve.

As far as using up the rest of the synthetic blend, it won't hurt a thing just to use it the downside is cleaning the rave valves, in fact SeaDoo issued a statement earlier this year that synthetic blend was O.K. for rave valve engines.

agree, run it, clean it, but not every tank that's overkill imo

seadoo oil pumps are considered very reliable, (much more reliable than the oil lines so check those out well)
no real reason that you HAVE to premix, but many of us prefer it, one less fault point.

Great! Thanks. I got 5 gallons of the synthetic blend...so it's good to hear that I can just use it and make sure I clean the RAVES, which is a quick easy thing to do. In regards to the oil system. You mentioned maintenance. I have changed the oil filter each season, but any other oil system maintenance you would recommend?
