NO SPEED OR RPM AT HALF throutle

I have a 1993 gtx 3 seater it has a 587 white motor daul carb motor. It starts up and runs great. It will sit and idle all day long If you let it. It has plenty of power on take off. and it will plane out. And about half throutle it just wont go any more. and what i mean by that is. at half way it all most seams like the jet ski has reached its full rpm. and wene i give it more gas it does nothing. it does not spit or spuder, bouge down or any thing else. it just does nothing. It acks like at half way theres no more throutle. This is what i have done to it. I cleaned the carbs, new fuel filter rebuilt the reserve valve.new fuel lines. I have check the ignition timeing and it is right on the money, I have checked the rotory valve and it is right on the money. I have checked the rectifier it is also good. So what else could it be or am i just missing somthing. I have heard some of these machines have rev limiters could this one be fauly and it not allowing the motor to reach its full rpm. Im not sure what the rpms are because i do not have a tach. To read the rpms. but if i was to guess i would say it is around 3000 that it tops out at. these motors should run around 6000 or so. So what could be the problem PLEASE HELP Chould it be a bad stator or coil. I have done ever thing i can think of and i am all out of ideas need some help.

Did you check the compression? When you checked the RV timing... did you check the valves clearance?

Yes... the rev limiter could be bad... but generally they don't. When they fail... they ether kill the engine totally, or let it over-rev.

If you can provide some more details more help may be possible.

Do you know if the throttle plates are opening fully when you have the throttle lever wide open?

Do you know or can you measure the rpm when you are on the move?

Some thoughts on how to do this. Northern Tool sell tach/hour meters for not too much. They wrap a wire around the outside of the spark plug wire to pick up a signal.

http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_524744_524744 looks like it would do a good job for $42
