New wear ring?

Hi, i have 2001 seadoo XP and this is the first PWC i have owned so i am failry new to this stuff. after a day on the water i was checking out my seadoo and noticed some strange markings when looking through the intake grate. to me it looks like some fiberglass is showing, but i am not totally sure. can you guys tell if the wear ring is just broken or do i have some other problems?

nice intake grate anyway yes its time for a new wear ring. get an oem replacement and stick it th freezer over night, cut the old ring out and slide the new one in.

Thanks, thats what i assumed just wanted to make sure before i started to take it all apart.

so, i got the jet pump off and it looks like that white strip wasn't apart of the wear ring. does anyone know if this is ok to be like that? it doesn't appear to be broken as the edges are pretty smooth.

ohh snap. that isn't your wear ring... it's the hull. that should be shiny black gelcote.

looks like the prop chewed through the hull! exposed fiberglass like that, to water, for a long period and it will get soft (or so the ledgend goes)...

I suggest getting some gelcote on it (gelcote is the name brand).

you know where i can find gelcote? i was looking online and didn't find much on it. someone told me i might be able to use bondo. what do you think about that?

Any marie supply house will have it. I wouldn't use bondo.

with that much damage you may be better off having it professionally done.

just go to the hardware store and get fiberglass resin
