Mixing engine oils?

I picked up my ski with a full oil tank and only used a small portion of it so far. Since i'm going out this weekend I want to fill the tank. I do not know what was in it previously. I would assume SeaDoo XPS but not sure.

I picked up Amsoil Interceptor 2 stroke synthetic for the ski. I don't want to mix it in tank and have an issue with it turning into gel.

Can I put equal amounts of each in a small paper cup and mix them together. If overnight they are still Ok can I assume it is ok to add the Amsoil to the tank?

it might be worth a try,

what I would do, assuming you have faith in this oil (right type) i'd ride it until the tank is more like 20% full then drain/replace, the doo doesn't really use THAT much oil on a single ride so having a 100% full tank is not critical ... even half full isn't...

Personally... I'd just drain it, and refill with the oil you want. It could take a month for the issues to show up, sitting on the shelf, and by that time... the filter will be clogged, and the engine will be dead.

Saving $40 in oil, isn't worth an engine to me.

As an experiment, not scientific, I mixed XPS oil and QS - both fully synthetic obviously... Equal amounts of both in a 1 quart XPS oil bottle. It's been 2 weeks and I observe no signs of the gel effect Seadoo and the dealers have warned of. I see no reason why you can't mix some - I am switching from XPS to QS.
