Missing Rubber Bumper

Removed the jet pump today to replace the carrier bearing. Notice that there was only a rubber bumper on the jet pump side of the drive shaft. The PTO side of the drive shaft didn't have a rubber bumper. Looked inside the PTO and didn't see any rubber bumper. Am I suppose to have 2 rubber bumpers? What will happen if the boat was missing the rubber bumper? I have a spare rubber bumper and installed it on the drive shaft, just wondering if running without the rubber bumper could have cause some damage to the boat.

Also when I removed the jet pump, there wasn't any impeller boot on the drive shaft at the jet pump. The part manual list an impeller boot, but like so many Seadoo parts it is obsolete. Can I use a later style impeller boot from a PWC?

TIA
