I had poor luck with a '93 Sea Doo that I purchased in '03 and only got out on three or four times. Nine years later and I just bought a '12 GTS 130 hoping I could put the bad experience behind me. Went out tonight for the first time and on the way back to the dock the ski seemed to bog down. Basically it stopped accelerating above 15mph. I'm not sure if I ran over something or what but I couldn't see anything when I got it out of the way. Any tips or should I just head back to the dealer already? Unfortunately I traveled out of state to get a good deal on it so no luck getting some "love" from the local dealer.

Was the engine reving out but it wasn't gaining speed? If so, you probably sucked something up in the intake grate for the jet drive. Check that area.

Yes, it was reving but just not gaining speed. I got under the ski and didn't see anything but I will take another look tomorrow.

Sure enough, a little stick (I think) about an inch and a half long was stuck in the impeller. I was able to pop it out with a little bar stuck through the intake grate and when I brought it back down to the water all was well. My dad has owned boats all his life and has replaced props from various items on the lake. However, I hope that first night incident isn't a sign of frequent occurences to come. Thank you for your help.

You're welcome. Glad to be of help. Good luck with your Seadoo. Post any additional questions in the 4-stroke PWC section of the forum.
