i have '97 xp thats down to about 55 mph.. at peak performance its up to 70 mph top speed. the manual doesnt say too much about it except to either clean out the " jet pump water intake" because of it being clogged or to replace the impeller. just wonder'en what others have done in thhis situation.

What is the compression on your 1997 xp? You need to add your model and year to you avatar for future problems. If the rpm's were high and the speed was low it could be your wear ring. It doesn't sound like the case. I would check your compression first. Ideal compression is 150 psi per cylinder.

Need a seadoo shop manual? Here’s an idea for you. You could join as a "premium member". As a premium member you can down load a authentic seadoo manual from the seadoo manual library. In the library is a variety of manuals for almost all years and models. You can view as many as you like on line as a PDF file, or download it and print it for your personal and private use. There are operator manuals and repair manuals for you to do your own repairs on your seadoo. The repair manuals have everything from troubleshooting, repair procedures to winterizing. It contains wire diagrams torque specs and pictures for disassemble and assemble instructions. In the spec sheets it tells everything needed to maintain oil changes, spark plug gaps, carburetor rebuilds and impeller wear ring tolerances. Click on the "Seadoo Manuals" link at the top of the page for more details. If you need any help or get in a jam, we are always here to answer your questions too. maybe this guy should join hummerforums.com. now-this 97 XP. are your rpm's still up, or have they dropped at full throttle. if revs are still where they were, it could be a wear ring-impeller issue. if they are down you need to do the carb-RAVE valve cleanout. plus the requisite compression check.

Your issue with top end speed. Check my post below, a look inside the 787 and read up on the RAVE valves.....
