Locked Up Engine?

My 2003 GTX Supercharge was recently de-winterized at the dealer. I have used it three times and it ran well. Last weekend while riding it, it just quit. I got all the right noises when I attached the key but the engine would not turn over at all. Pulled the dipstick and no oil showing at all. I looked in the hull and there is a lot of oil. Is my engine destroyed? What happened? I'm hoping there is a safety that kills the engine with a loss of oil pressure.

Thanks, I actually just got word from the dealer yesterday. He says my engine is toast. I now have a good hull and all of the electronics if you know of anyone who buys units to part them out.

I have no idea what it's worth or if I'll be able to make an insurance claim. I was just looking at what a new engine would cost from SBT but I have read a lot of bad reviews about them. Are you interested in buying it if I go that way?

yes, interested.
SBT is iffy at best. My customers have had some problems with their engines in the past and those 4stroke motors are pricey to be taking a chance...

Tear it apart and repair it. In a couple weekends you can complete the project and not spend a bundle.

That's an idea worth checking into. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined and don't mind diving into a project. I'll ask the shop what they diagnosed again but I think he said it threw a rod thru the case, hence the oil in the hull. Are you familiar with a good resource for repair guides?

repair guide available on this site. join for a month and get the manual for $10.95. or search online. don't know of free one for 2003 units.
