Jet Pump failure: Update

After taking out the pump and removing the cone on my Seadoo GTX 260 SC, there was no oil in the cone and the bearings were shattered sitting inside of it. It is clear that the bearings had broken which caused the pump failure most likely but can anyone tell me why it started to take in water? When we took it off the impellerbwas also very loose and not tight at all. 1/2 a turn and it popped out

Either the rear seal or front cone seal failed. Allowed water in and it basically ate itself.
