I was wondering if anyone has replaced OEM gauges with any of the aftermarket variety. My speedo tops out at 45 mph (and is otherwise inaccurate throughout) when my iphones GPS shows high 50's low 60's. I was thinking of switching it out with an aftermarket GPS speedo. Also the blank gauge to the left of the panel, I was thinking of adding a depth finder.
I spoke with my mechanic about replacing the OEM gauges and he said that changing the OEM gauges out might be a problem since the on-board computer needs to be plugged into those OEM gauges to function properly. I would like to hear some opinions about this. Also, if it is indeed true, I was thinking of replacing them anyway and just keeping the oem gauges plugged in and tucked away behind the instrument panel. Any thoughts?
