SO a week or 2 back I asked about installing aftermarket handle bars. I sanded all the casting marks on the stock stem and painted it black and fabricated up some covers for the throttle and start/stop housings. Heres the pics if anyone is interested:

Im glad you did that as I was thinking about the same thing. Im curious if there is a way to shorten the actual column. Mine seems to be excessivly long. I havent taken the time to check if its aluminum. If so ill just cut and weld it

I used a thin piece of sheet metal and traced the the casing of the throttle housing, the start/stop housing the throttle housing are identical, just mirror imaged of each other. It was steel that I painted black, but the paint is starting to chip and rust so I have some thicker plastic that I'm going to cut and cap the housings with. The handlebars are from a cr-80. I think there about 26" wide if I remember correctly, or maybe they were 32". It was one of those 2. They seem to fit nicely. Not too wide and I like the look. I put a new handlebar pad that's white and green, matches the look of the skis colors a bit better now.
