Installation on rear stepladder bracket RXTis 07

Hi all. I have replacement bracket to fox my broken one. Have three screws that go into the transolm and the spring that seem to fit in the middle of the two sides of the bracket. Problem is, I can't seem to find how to get the spring to have tension to spring back the ladder? Any ideas, prob v simple but just can't work out. Thanks all

It was an 09 not 07. Plus all fixed now, had a friend use a pliers to get the spring onto the Center plastic to get tension.
