I vote they include the shaft spring clip in starter rebuild kits...

So I know it is going to pop off. I have my other hand behind the end of the shaft awaiting it flying. Right as it pops off my wife sneezes as if into a megaphone, I'm distracted and lose visual contact, feel it hit the edge of my pinky and... it's gone.

Never heard it bounce anywhere, it's just gone. Doc and McFly took it for some reason.

This should be fun to find a replacement for...

Any help locating this part appreciated, I've struck out so far. Having the part number of 278-000-048 doesn't seem to help either.

I'm guessing a CRS-12 would be compatible, anyone care to confirm or refute?

are you talking about the circlip that holds the floating ring against the carbon ring on the driveshaft? i got a replacement from parker yamaha, the part itself is cheap but with shipping it ends up being like $15

edit: doh, you said starter rebuild, no idea, sorry. I'll look anywhere you had shop rags laying nearby when it happened, since you didn't hear it bounce it likely landed far away or on something soft

Yes, SeaDoo calls it a circlip but the one I'm looking for is the one on the end of the starter motor. I checked Parker online for it but maybe I need to give them a call. Thanks

yeah sorry i missed that part. you could try minnetonka4me, he might have a starter with burnt windings he could pull a circlip off of for you.
