Hi, New member dad with a question. 2000 Seedoo GTX 951 engine with less than 300 hrs. My son ran the oil tank dry. Red warning light did not come on. Engines idles but is noisy. My guess engine is cooked. WHAT will have to be replaced for this big mistake. Complete short block or just a new top end? I am good on 4 strokes but no knowledge on 2 strokes so any advice/ help would be great. If it needs a new shortblock, what other parts will it need such as a oil pump, reed valves, etc. Thanks for any help for this disgusted dad!

50 lashings for him and make him strip engine.

Sabertoothsqrl is a resident 951 expert and should chime in

If you need a short block try SBT for core replacement or SES/Fullbore for rebuild.
Being time of water sports SBT should have faster turn around or may be Saber will sell you one he has in storage:biggrinjester:

Check compression before tearing it down.
135 normal for a 951 engine

Hopefully rod didn't go through case??

Yep. Doesn't sound good. If it was iddling with new oil and noisy then yes, you will probably need to rebuild the whole thing. Like OCOD stated be carefull running it in that condition, it may trow a rod through the side of the block; and then your rebuild cost goes up. :banghead:

If the oil was run dry, the oil system needs to be bled or it still might not be injecting oil.

Don't be too hard on the kid, 300hrs. on a 951 is great, most need rebuilding before 300hrs.

Sorry im late to the party, the title threw me.
