I cant start my GTI

99 GTI.

New Battery freshly charged. a month ago I would hit the start button and bam she fired up good to go.

Now whenI hit the start button It tries to crank then I get a single beep. I press again and get the single beep.

Pull the key and try again and the process repeats itself.


Any ideas would be appreciated as the summer is almost over and I want to ride.

The battery is weak. Charge it, or replace it. OR... the starter has gone bad.


The single beep happens after the MPEM resets from a low voltage situation.

Turns out it was a bad battery, replaced it and all is good now.
