Just joined the forums as I have just obtained a 96 GTI and a 97 GTI. This is my first time owning a PWC so I know I'll be a frequent visitor to these forums. I cant wait to get out on the water but I know with used PWC's patience and caution is first. Dont wanna get stuck out there on the first ride.

I got my Seadoo's via craigslist and I traded a couple of laptops I wasnt using for them. The 96 starts up just fine but has ALOT of smoke. Previous owner says that they've been sitting ever since they were serviced last year. Luckily the fuel tank is just about empty. I'm hoping its just the old fuel making it smoke that bad. I havent taken it out on the water yet.

The 97 GTI doesnt run at all. I dont even get beeps when you attach the lanyard or gauges moving or any indication that power is getting to anything. He says that its a bad "computer" which based on what I've seen on this forum- its the mpem. Does that sound like the symptom of the bad diode problem? He said that a mechanic looked it over last year and traced it back to the computer.

I'm going to try the bad diode fix that I've found on this forum and hopefully i'll work. Its at least a starting point and then I'll move on to other concerns on the 97.

Anyway, look forward to many summer days here in South Texas on the lakes and waterways!
