Hi, I'm a new guy on this forum, and I looked for a previous thread on this, but didn't see one.
I need to change the oil filter on my 2003 GTI LE RFI. I have the new filter and mini tie straps from the dealer, but not quite sure how to approach this. Questions:
1. Is it better to do the input or output end first?
2. Should I fill the new filter with oil before installing?
3. Should I clamp the hoses to avoid spilling oil, or is there another technique?
4. Do I need to bleed the system after the change?
5. If I need to bleed, do I just open the valve, or do I need to crank? Will oil leak out?
6. Any other tips?
This seems like an easy job, but just want to make sure I don't mess it up, or make a mess.
Thanks!
Rich
