High idle screw / Low idle screw

95' sp that has been converted to dual carb. Im assuming engine size is still the same at 587. The specs for idle screws on that engine are 1-1/4 low, and 0 high. Ive personally never messed with them but looking at the high screws, it looks like they're almost wide open. Im scared to close them (which I assume is the 0 spec), because the manual says severe engine damage may occur.

When I start it as is, it idles out the roof. Opening the idle screw has no affect on slowing down the rpm. Closing the high idle screw apparently leans it out even more.

Should I close the high idle screw back to 0 as specified?
