gtx Di haul

Hi I got 2001 GTX DI and was changing the wear ring,when I pulled the pump off the drive shaft stayed there and I noticed that there was nothing between the drive shaft and haul but it looks like something should have.I checked the manual and it shows nothing.Can someone tell me if there should be something there like a boot or something?This is on the out side of haul has you look thru under the intake grate.

There is an insert that goes in the hull, it looks like, from the scratches in the hull that something wrapped around the drive shaft and scratched things up and maybe took part of the thru hull fitting (part no. 7) with it. The thru hull fitting besides being a little beat up looks to be O.K.

The drive shaft looks pretty rough, probably from being used in salt water.

Thanks Lou I believe your right .That fitting may go in that hole.
