gas in intake

I have a 2003 gti le rfi and it will not start after the initial cranking. If it doesn't start right away I have to remove the plugs and dry everything out. I noticed that there is a gas/oil substance on the inside of the air intake cover. Is this normal or do I need to replace the reed valves? It ran fine two days ago and now it is dead. Thank you in advance. I am new here so thank you and I am glad to be apart of this community.

Reeds? You should have an 800 engine... Right?

It's normal to get a little spit back from the intake... so I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless it's dripping wet. Now... since your plugs are wet... I'm going to say your injectors are leaking, and it's flooding the engine between runs.

I was thinking about that too. It is a 800. I didn't mean reeds but rotor valve. I can't get it to start for nothing now. It just doesn't make any sense that it won't even fire. Three days ago it ran perfect. I drained the gas and put 100% 93 in it and still nothing.

Well.... that doesn't sound good.

With what you are saying, I'm now thinking that your rotary valve isn't spinning. Take off the air box, and put your hand over the throttle body, and have someone crank it. It should only be drawing air. If you feel a puff out... then the RV has stopped spinning.

Two questions:

1) What kind of oil are you burning?

2) did you go to pre-mix, and remove the oil tank?

I'll check into it. It was making a clanking noise unlike the other one I have. Thanks for the help.

Im having the same problem. I have re-timed the rv and checked for functionality. any other ideas as to a solution?
