well just put my xp in the garage to do all the maintenance on her, cause of a little cavitation, wear ring wasnt too bad, impeller looks brand new, pump oil was horrible... noticed that the front driveshaft boot clamp was MIA, looks like it hasnt had grease in there since I bought it, bearing seems ok, clamped it down filled her with grease and it pushed my driveshaft quite a bit towards the pump, is that normal?

also wouldnt that help with cavitation if its puting pressure against the carbon seal? i just dont want to spend 150 bucks on new carbon seal and bearings if i dont have to.. is there anyway to put water pressure to the rear of the driveshaft and see if water is coming through?? i did have a little problem with water in hull... and i already got the new vts boot, as mine was destroyed..

your gonna have to take it all apart, you do need a boot, you also have a rubber bumper on each side of your driveshaft, thats why it moves, and if its moving a bunch, this can cause a carbon seal leak, maybe you have a wear ring issue also, -- note - when you grease at pto after install new boot, watch it when you grease it and when you first see driveshaft move at all, thats enough grease ......without the bumpers on it, that happened to me, my front bumper was gone and i took on alot of water.......

yeah new wear ring and pump rebuild kit, the shaft moved a bunch, im guessing that was my problem... theres no movement on the carbon ring... and the bumpers are there... i figured i could test the ring by blowing water on it...

sounds like your bumper is missing, they are like 2.00 each, replace both bumpers, i would replace other boot also, i was at work before, and didnt think of it, but the other boot that holds the carbon seal, i would replace also

where are in orlando ??? i bought my ski in lake mary before

I only replace the bumpers once on mine. Just a couple weeks ago. I bought after market bumpers and they didn't seem to fit in the driveshaft real tight. Hope I don't have any problems. Might want to buy oem bumpers to make sure they fit tight.
