guys my foot pad has lost it's adhesive in spots. Is it possible to pop out and re-use the plastic rivots, if I decided to lift the foot pad temporarily so I can re glue? the pad itself is in good shape.
they are not plastic rivets and they are not glued down, they are aluminum rivets with a plastic cap on each one that you pop out easily. those old rubber mats are junk, only a matter of time before they buckle and warp and are very slippery when wet, just replace with the newer foam ones, you'll be glad you did and they look better and work tons better, no slip.
How is the quality of the padding from Hydroturf? And in the event I didn't want to venture with Hydroturf this year, is it possible to re-use these rivots and try repairing the existing foot pad?
what is the most recommended pad shape? I am thinking one were water will not hold in the mat, to avoid mold and dirt build up? Sorry and if someone could mention if rivots are reusable if I decide to keep old padding.
You can't reuse rivet. You will have to buy new rivets and a rivet gun to install them. The Blacktip and Hydroturf mats are mold resistant, any one of the patterns will work fine, just go with what you think would look best.
Honestly for the effort it will take to reinstall and rivet the old mats in I would replace them, it really does wonders for how you ski looks and a lot more traction.
If you use rivets you also need to use a fairly long one, I'd say 1/2" with a 1/8" shaft. If you use short ones you'll just tear up the fiberglass and they won't hold!
I replaced a couple of bad rivets as a short term fix until I buy the Hydrotuff. Drill the old ones out with a 1/8" drill and use a screwdriver to stop the old rivet from turning as you drill.
