drive shaft noise while flushing

Hi Guys,
i have a seadoo GTS Pro 130. Its about 18months old and has done 71 hours.
When flushing the ski it today, it made a terrible noise in the engine bay when revved. idle is fine. I turned it off immediately and noticed what looked like black grease sprayed around the hull under the drive shaft. It made the noise once before about a week ago. Funny thing is that once the ski has cooled down it idles and can be revved fine. in the water no problems. use it a couple of times, flushes ok, then out of the blue this ugly sound. the last 2 times appears to have occurred just after turning tap off and during revving to purge exhaust. I am going to bring it in to get checked, but it will be cold and probably run perfectly making me look like an idiot..
Any ideas from anybody would be greatly appreciated from a beginner to this forum. i am worried i may have done some damage.
Thanks in advance
sam
