So I have a 98 GS with the 717. I was wondering if i can put a factory performance pipe on it ? I’ve heard of them but the ppl say it’ll kill you’r engine. Does anyone have experience?

Personally no, but read everything I can find online about it. Takes a number of things to get right, most important is fuel delivery. A pair of carbs from a 787 seem to be the deal, with the right jetting. If this engine goes lean with this pipe, it will fry pistons very quick. Just throw on the pipe and it wont perform great and most likely crap out as soon as you give it some...

I would research to find someone who has the same setup as you, as Gritz said, if the surrounding parties (carbs, jetting etc.) are not right you will kill a piston,,,do some searches on Group K , they have the complete setup/packages for various motors,,,,Or,,,just get a 785!

Thanks guys for the replies. I think Ill just leave it be. I was i front of a 2020 130 and he was going 51

I kind of agree. A stock 717 is incredibly reliable as it is, and even if it isnt ripping your arms out of their sockets...it's still fine in a small ski.

Only thing is the acceleration isn’t there. But i mean i guess i need a faster ski. I will be rebuilding and repainting but next ski is a newer 4 stroke
