No. It should not "spin" because it is geared to the crankshaft. You might get it to move back and forth a degree or two.

If it spins, I think you have found your problem. You have a "chipbox" instead of a gearbox.

That rock was enough to cause issues. You sucked it up. Too shallow.

Ok. It does not spin freely with A long screwdriver I can get it to move an inch or two and that’s about it. I figured it would spin freely but I guess it’s good that it doesn’t. I’m at answers as what could be wrong. Could it be my throttle cable? Thanks

Is the pump still in the boat?

If it is out then it should spin freely.
If it is installed it should not.

I assumed it was out.

Its still in. I just took the end piece off, As I was only being held in my one bolt. as it was only being held in my one bolt I just want to get four more bolts and put it back together and see if that was my problem

What engine/year do you have? Please refresh your symptoms.

Is your stator still off? A 2-person test of the gearbox:
One person at the engine with a socket and ratchet to fit flywheel nut. 2nd person at the impeller. Try to turn the impeller against the engine. THIS IS NOT A BRUTE TEST. If the gears are bad, it won't take a lot of force to show it.

Of course, key off, kill switch off.

It’s a 2002 utopia 185. I’m sorry but I don’t know what a stator is. Newbe

A stator is the STATionary part Of a Rotating system, like a jet pump or a generator.
The tailcone of the jet drive.

That is still on. Can I take that off, To check the impeller? I think it’s just four bolts. No fluid will come out if I take that off correct

Is ghis the stater? There is another rock in there that i cant get out

That is in fact the stator, AKA tailcone. It looks like you are in need of some heli-coils.

Multiple rocks in the stator vanes would definitely cause issues.

Is it cheap to replace the stator and wear ring with a brand new unit? I cannot find any part numbers anywhere. Or prices

if that utopia M2 240 has the same pump setup as my 2002 challenger M2 240- it doesn't have a replaceable wear ring like the rotax engines have- it's a one piece machined aluminum part- I was never able to find any after market parts for my M2 jet pump- you may find used parts in good shape on ebay. in the $1500 - $2200 range. It's one of the reasons why I stay far away from the old challenger M2 boats. I've owned 3 of the 240 M2's and nothing but expensive issues. If the wear ring isn't too bad, you might be able to have it cleaned up. You won't find any Mercury M2 parts from Seadoo because it's not a Sea Doo product, it's a mercury product. Here's the entire pump assy on ebay- price isn't too bad considering you're getting the whole jet drive-

and here's an expanded parts breakdown from Mercury-
Genuine Mercury & Mercruiser parts. Nozzle And Rudder Components

found a wear ring kit for ya ;)

This place has a nearly new complete pump
Marine Connection Liquidators

However- most on this forum fix their wear ring the cheap way- fiberglass and epoxy. About $20. My repair has been good for 4 years so far. There are shops that will machine and install a stainless ring for about $500.

As for the stator- the rocks got sucked up and blown thru the impeller. Can you use a dowel rod from the aft end and tap them out? When you get them out, some Dremel work on the vanes might be indicated. Looked like your impeller could use some love, too.
