Circlip position?

Wondering how others install new circlips. Manual says circlip opening at 6 o'clock, but WSM says opening at 12 o'clock. I've always done the 6 o'clock and never had issues. ??

Either way is fine, opening up or down, piston inertia in each direction is the same.
