I de-winterized and finished changing pump oil and put the XP back in the water today. I noticed cavitation immediately and checked bilge via rear hatch. Water was pouring around the boot. I put it back on the trailer and inspected. There was a gap between the carbon ring and metal flange. This was not occurring when I winterized. For the first time ever I had to do the “loosen clamp on boot and slide carbon ring forward” to make boot hold carbon ring tight against the flange. The carbon ring looks fine. I’ve never had to do this before but read the trick here a long time ago. Is this all I need to do or is this a temp fix until boot can be replaced?
