Can I retrofit another model Speedometer to my 2000 GS?

Had a look at the Geko GPS, they look enough for me. Something to fit into the blanked off gauge hole is wha I am thinking about?

How about something along these lines?

Auto Meter® - Marine Silver In-Dash Mount GPS Speedometer Gauge

I had one like this (different manufacturer) in my boat. Sadly it failed and I went back using a regular Quicksilver Mercury one.

Or there’s a Chinese special if you’re willing to risk it. I see these all the time on eBay, but I’ve never seen one in action before.

As an example is this:

However most on eBay follow this general theme.

On my SeaDoo GTi I just use a stock Bombardier unit and that’s been plenty good enough for me. It does read with a slight inaccuracy, but is enough to see if you’re doing the limit on rivers or in no-wake zones

I believe it’s driven by a little wheel, as opposed to GPS or pito-pressure like some outboards.
