So I found I have broken petals that are missing from one of the reed assemblies. Does this mean I now have to tear down the engine to find the missing parts? I thought I remembered someone saying that most times they will flow out the exhaust..... but I want to get the correct way of fixing this.

The stock yamaha reeds on the 701 engines are stainless steel and will damage the engine so you have to tear it down.

They didn't go with fiberglass reeds until the 760 engine and those will pass through without damage.

i pulled the head and the piston looks like it has some light nicks on it. The wall looks great and used the bore scope to check the bottom end and didn't see anything. Whats the chance it passed through?
