Where is the best place to put the pump in a 96 xp? There really is no flat spot or room anywhere. Where are you guys gluing the pump?

Most guys glue the plastic bracket down to either side of the carbon seal. I'm sure someone has a pic on here.

Don't know what to say. I don't run a bilge pump, never saw the need on my X4's. I like to jump and the stockers always worked well.

Here's where I installed the bilge pump in my 96GSX similar situation. I just glued it directly to the hull, this is the 4th. season and it's still holding. I used Locktite silicone seal.

Rotate your carbon seal bellow hose clamps so the heads are up. .Much easier to access, LOL. Sorry, my hose clamp OCD is kicking in.

Agreed. I repair the bilge pumps I find in skis but I usually don't install them. Most the time when i find one in a ski it's a situation where one of the following has occurred:

1) O-rings have been left out or not seated between pump and nozzles
2) Plastic straw within the nozzle has fallen out
3) bilge lines have fallen down inside the hull
4) welch plug on pipe is rotted out

I usually agree with both of you guys, however this time I'm going to disagree. A bilge pump has saved my a$$ on more than one occasion. Once, I made a rookie mistake and left the drain plug out, and the other time my mechanic (me) apparently didn't get the hose from the pump to the block on tight enough it popped off and filled the hull, if it had not been for the bilge pump we would have been in deep doo doo.

I know both incidents were my fault but sometimes we can't account for human error. Yes you may never need a bilge pump, but $50.00 is pretty cheap insurance.
