The top end of my GTX has not come back. I have C&I both raves twice all is good. This weekend on the lake the ski had a good hole shot and decent acceleration. Top end would not kick in! 5400 rpm and 46 mph max. It also Kinda "lurched" forward throttle pegged and max RPM like it wanted to go. Other wise it ran great. Could I have soaked my rave solinoid valve( gummed it up) when we flooded it out. I think it is using alot of fuel too. Is my next step carbs rebuild or?

Eric

Okay so mpem controls the rave via solinoid- what is the freq. of a mpem failure. could i hook up 12 volts to the solinoid for a bench test? Eric

i can do that. Let me ask you this. the manual says to crank the red rave valve screws all the way down for the 947/951. flush for the others. Eric

I may be off but if I recall correctly, flush is where it's at. That's what I've run all my 951's at. No problems....

No, the manual is correct, all the way in, however you can adjust to preference.

yes, you can 12v the solenoid to see if it clicks. then use your mouth to see if it's working right.

also check compression, water regulator, hoses, air hoses, and rave 1 way valve under the engine, which likes to melt. the hoses also like to melt and get holes in them after years of use. new plugs, new gas, clip back plug wires and reseat.

Carburetor-Equipped Engines
On top of the RAVE, there is a red plastic adjustment
knob. Turning the adjustment in or out
changes the preload on the return spring which, in
turn, will change the RPM at which the RAVE valve
opens and closes. On 947 engines, the spring preload
does not have a significant effect on the valve
operation.

787 RFI and 947 Carburetor-Equipped Engines
On these engines, the RAVE valves are controlled
by the Multi-Purpose Electronic Module (MPEM).
To open the RAVE valves, the MPEM activates a
solenoid which directs the positive pressure from
engine crankcase to the valves.

787 RFI Engine
Turn the red plastic knob no. 17 until it is flush to
the valve cover.

947 Carburetor-Equipped Engine
Turn the red plastic knob no. 17 until it is fully tightened.
