98 GTI 717 seized when hot

Issues with my 717 seized when hot. This happened to me late last year. I pulled it out of the water and the engine would still not turn. When I got it home, the engine had cooled and would turn and start again. It has sat in the garage untouched since then. I would like to get it back on the water this summer... Thoughts or suggestions?

not sure anything good can come from this...

First you need to determine what caused it to overheat? Lack of lubrication or lack of water cooling.

Have you checked compression since it will now turn over? Compression will probably be really low.
