98 gti 717 rotary cover???

My rotary valve is shot and it notched out the cover. the crankcase is fine(or seems to be). where can I get the valve and cover and what are the part numbers for these parts? Ive looked through the shop manual and cant find part numbers for parts only tools. what could have caused this to happen??

as long as, on the cover, the marks dont run from port to port, thje cover will be ok. Check to make sure the protruding brass fittings are on/in the cover and not missing. another possiblity is water in motor, and you try'n to fire it...if you need to replace the cover, check out sbtonthweb.com , they got replacemants for 75 buks, and for a rv plate, you need the 159* valve, set at 147*/65*
