I have a 98 GSX Limited with 48 hours from new.

Every 60 seconds (via the stop watch on dash) I get a 5 sec beeeeeeep.

Whats the problem? The boat runs as it should, just beeeeeeps every 60 seconds. No lights, just a beeeeeep.

Help.

According the the manual the possible causes are: fuel tank level is low, very low battery voltage, MPEM malfunction. My first guess would be a faulty fuel float. Does the fuel gauge work?

Fuel gauge does NOT work.

Found this on another site.......

So thanks to all of you who contributed your thoughts. You were right it was the fuel sensor. I did some more research and was finally able to understand what ya'll meant by jumping the wires.

So for all you newbies like me, since this is apparently a common problem among the late 90s Sea Doos, here is what the problem is and how I fixed it. It is a 2 second beep once every minute. The beep is to make the rider aware that they are low on fuel, from the research two bars or less. If your fuel baffle has gone bad you can either fix that or if you are okay with a free solution and don't care if your fuel read out works you can disconnect the fuel sensor wires that go to the MPEM. The fuel sensor wires are PINK and PINK/BLACK. My connector was just above the fuel tank and directly underneath the steering assemly. I disconnected the fuel sensor line then cut the wires just behind the connector on the MPEM side. I simply twisted the wires together, wire nutted them and wrapped them in electrical tape. I restarted the engine and no beeps.

I did read about how to fix the baffle and it just seemed like more work and trouble than it was worth. You end up having to take out the steering assembly and the parts cost about $75. So for me, the suggestions of just disconnecting the fuel sensor was the best for the money.

Usually it's an easy fix, it's usually the float. The old floats depends on cork for buoyancy the new type is molded plastic. If you're interested in fixing yours PM me, I've got a source for less than half price.

I'd like to have the fuel gauge work, and if the beeping goes away too.....bonus.

Is it easy enough for a dumb guy like me to fix.....LOL?

The float cost me $12 and a couple hours to replace. I had to drain my tank so that took a bit. Good to have a working fuel gage.
