I have a 97 GTX and have experienced a small amount of water in the hull after riding and some cavitation on take off. When inspecting the Carbone ring and boot, it appears that the O rings on the carrier are almost gone and the carbone ring has ALOT of play between it and the carrier / shaft and a gap of about 3/16" all the way around the ID of the ring and the carrier.
My question is should that gap be there? What kind of fit should the Carbone Ring ro shaft / Carrier be? Shouldn't the carbone ring be snug fit?
