So I took my jet pump apart yesterday to replace the wear ring and then I took the cap off water came out and no oil at all. There was water all down the shaft too and in the bearings and I noticed that the thrust bearing on the shaft looks broken, it also will not slide off the shaft(not even sure if it's supposed to). You can see where I circled in the picture, the inside of the bearing has a raised uneven piece of metal that does not look natural. I am thinking I definitely need to replace this bearing. The shaft seemed to spin easily and smoothly and there is not any rust down in the pump. Should I just clean it out with WD-40 and get all the water out and re-oil it, then replace the o-ring on the cap that is messed up and see if it holds pressure or should I try to get the pump rebuilt or replaced to make sure there isn't any more damage that I can't see?

The thrust bearing was damaged because it was not seated when the impeller was put on. I would replace the bearings and seals. If you pressurize the cap you will be able to see what seal is bad. I would suspect the front pump seal.

Are you talking about the double lip seal next to the impeller or the seal under the impeller cover cone? I know for a fact the o-ring under the cone was messed up and pinched. I am not sure I feel comfortable replacing the needle bearings so I may call the shop and see how much they would charge for a rebuild.
