97 Challenger Carbon Ring

Hey guys,

Quick question about my 97 challenger carbon ring replacement. Should the eclip be visable? I don't remember seeing the eclip before. Tried pushing the hat over the clip but no go.

Taking on some water in the bilge and wondering if this is the issue.

No, you should not be able to see the clip when the hat is seated properly.

The challenger has three grooves where the hat sits. Is there a specific one for the clip? Was hard enough getting it to the first groove but it clearly isnt fitting correctly.

Really not sure what groove to use as I work on the PWC;'s and they only have one.

Doesn’t seem right to have more than one groove
Can you not have a close look at grooves to see where the “c “ Clip was installed

It’s there to apply pressure with the Hat section onto carbon ring
So I guess when installing clip you should have resistance to push Hat section aft of groove to install C clip
So try for middle groove failing that it would be the one fwd
You don’t have any pics before removal ‍
