This is the 2nd time we have had our matching 96 XP's out and My girlfriend complained of hers not acting right so, I traded her and as long as I didn't hold it wide open, it did fine but, when I held throttle wide open it would take off for a few seconds then bog WAY down a few seconds! Just on~going all day,~ ONNNNNNN,OFFFFFFF,ONNNNNN,OFFFFFF,ONNNNNN,OFFFFFF, So, I tried to pull the choke out a little thinking it was starving for gas but, when I did that, I would immidiately kill it so, i would let of the choke and it would go right back to the onnnnnnn, offfffffff.... 3/4 throttle, runs good! Hmmmmmn, I'm a Total Newb to these water Ski's but, I did a compression check on both of them the week B4 and this one was right about 148 both Cylinders and starts up Great, hot or cold..... Thanks for any help! Tim.......

Symtom described can be exhaust asphyxiating (breathing that, not AIR) or selector
switch tubes clogged. A 3/16 drill of the three valve tubes can cure that! Bill

If aluminum carbs or selector unpainted, Grease, can stop moisture permiation of
the Aluminum Oxide into the petroleum circulatory fuel mix.

Thanks Much for the Quick Reply and I want to remind you, I'm such a NOOB! Can I ask you where the 3 lines you speak of are located? Also, what would this imply of removing to get to? I thank You, Tim :hurray:

The ON-OFF-RESERVE selector switch. Pick the caps center off and remove the phillips #2 screw and pull off cap with pliers on knob center. Remove the plactic
nut and push valve into the compartment where you can remove three fuel lines,
after marking their orientation where they go on the valve, drill out & clean, grease
and reinstall. Bill
