Hi there !!!
We recently purchased a used 1996 seadoo challenger according to the last owner he has had no problems with it. we are coming into in 2 weeks of owning it and are getting a clicking when trying to start. We took it out on the lake 2 times and both times we had to be pulled in:

1st time : started well after unloading we drove it for roughly 30 mins and it died out on us ... it wouldn’t give us the 2 beeps when reattaching the DESS finally it gave us the 2 beeps and we tried to start it .. no luck just a click from hitting the start button. Got home later that night attempted to start it and it ran fine.

2nd time ; has alittle hesitating starting sounded almost as we flooded the spark plugs so we changed them right on the spot to two brand new ones.. after alittle choke pull and start push she started ... this time we drove maybe 15-20 mins and it dies out again on us.... got home and it’s no better still 2 beeps but when hitting the start it clicks.

We have tested the battery it’s reading 12v so we don’t think it’s the battery ... could it be the starter or did we just get stuck with a really Big canoe Thanks !

12V resting is pretty low, ie only 25%. I'd charge it up and then check voltage while it's running to ensure the ski is putting a good charge into it to rule that out. I'd want to see 13-14 while revving.

Would putting in a new battery get rid of the start clicking and have it turn over.. we haven’t been able to get it started after the 2nd time it died out on us

Would be cheaper to try charging it first. Remove (or at least disconnect) from the ski before doing so.

You want to see 12.6 or greater (after resting for an hour) when you think you're done charging. That's essentially 100% fully charged. If you check it right after you disconnect the charger it'll be a little higher than that.

Update : ended up getting new battery still noting 2 beeps and when we go to start it’s not turning over or even trying

Pull the plugs out and see if you can turn the motor by hand. If you can, then try jumping the solenoid with a screwdriver. If it doesn’t turn by jumping it, you have an issue with the starter itself...
